As part of the event, we are thrilled to bring to you an incredible conversation between Laverne and recently freed trans activist CECE MCDONALD on how the criminal justice system targets trans women of color, and the power of art to transform culture and change hearts and minds. To amplify the conversation beyond our event, we’ll be live streaming the conversation online so everyone can join in!
At the Opportunity Agenda we believe that equal treatment, economic security and mobility, and a voice in decision-making processes are essential components of our human rights. The Creative Change Awards Benefit both highlights the need for this work and generates vital resources to sustain it. Our host for the evening will be comedian, writer, and co-founder of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, Lizz Winstead. The evening will also include a performance by Jasiri X, a nationally-recognized artist and activist who has received acclaim for his brand of socially conscious hip-hop.
